Twisting the night away….
Day 22 begins with Tom and Rupert sawing down trees while the others sleep. Tom then fishes for the first time and catches a little one.
At Mogo Mogo, Jerri complains about everything being "dank" and wet. Kathy says losing all the time is depressing. No, your tribe's voting strategy is depressing.
Mail announces something about maybe making new friends so everyone assumes it's a merge. They also get a little can of green paint and decide to do nothing with it instead of "show up looking like a bunch of weirdos with paint," says Lex.

"If I go like this it looks dirty."
|
Cut to Chapera going nuts with the paint. They're painting each other all over and having a great time. "We just paint," Tom says. "Tick tock, pokie pokie, rubbie rubbie." I'm guessing those aren't the scientific terms.
They arrive for the Challenge and Chapera looks lively while Mogo looks, well, lame. Jeff has them choose an order amongst themselves but doesn't say why. Lex is first for Mogo Mogo and he gets to choose someone from Chapera to talk with alone. He picks Rob. It sure is funny watching Lex believing he's some big kingpin because he's the last male in a woeful tribe.
The picking goes back and forth between tribes. Tom chooses Jerri, Shii Ann picks Rupert because "we're both here alone," and Alicia is stuck with Kathy. That leaves Jenna and Amber as a pair.
Everyone gets a snack lunch and they're just supposed to hang out in pairs. Shii Ann blabs about her not liking Jerri. She's never been good at keeping secrets from the other team.
Jeff brings them all back and says they're getting new buffs. Lex draws the first one from a jar and it's red. Rob draws one, and it's green. Jeff says, "What, did you think we were merging?" He loves this. So Lex and Rob have switched sides. Tom also draws a Mogo buff, keeping him with Rob. Sure enough, the next four people all pick the opposite color they had before, so the tribes are the same just with different names--and homes, which understandably annoys Rob big time.
Jenna and Amber are left and since the tribes will be even, one of them is going to get the shaft. Jenna gets Mogo and stays with her team leaving Amber as the lone person to truly switch sides. Can you feel the heartbreak between her and Rob?
What a worthless switch. The lazy losers get rewarded with even numbers AND a much better camp. It's Communist Survivor.
Amber shows everyone around New Chapera and they marvel at the mastery. Over at Nuevo Mogo they marvel at the dump. There are bugs on the plates, no firewood and a tiny rickety shelter. Both tribes have food waiting for them but it's not a happy feast for the team in green.

"I think I'm alone now."
|
As expected, Chapera goes to down on the personal hygiene supplies. We get not one but two hideous close-ups of Jerri using the toothbrush. My eyes! They burn!!
Rob gets emotional about Amber saying, "I care about her." So much for the tough guy image.
The next day mail arrives with a flip book of past Survivor logos and a poem about some of the past players. It says 112 people total have played the game. Whoa.
The Challenge will be a trivia game about the previous seven seasons (which proves everyone did get to see Rupert's season before the game started). Chapera quizzes each other on facts, including who was the first person voted out of each season.
Since this is one game where the viewers can actually play along, I'll leave the answers in black text so you can make your guesses if you missed the show. Just highlight next to the question to see if you're right. The first tribe with ten right wins.
1. Whose arrival in Marquesas was "almost like Cleopatra"? Sarah.
Both tribes get it right.
2. Which "unlikely pair" shared a movie in Africa?
Brandon and Frank.
Both right again.
3. Survivor: Africa was in which country?
Kenya.
Chapera is right but Mogo was not, even though Tom was there.
4. In Borneo, what specifically did they have to eat in the food Challenge?
"Butok - bug larvae" is exactly what Jenna writes for Mogo and she's right. Jerri confidently put grubs but that wasn't good enough. We're tied at 3.
5. Who used the "alphabet strategy" for voting during the first season? Both sides know that it was
Sean and we're still tied.
6. Who had to get airlifted out of the Outback?
Michael.
Duh. 5-5.
7. Who left the Marquesas by drawing the purple rock to break a Tribal Council tie?
Paschal.
Both teams are on a roll now.
8. Who did Robb choke in Thailand?
Clay.
9. Who was a mortician in the Pearl Islands?
Darrah.
10. Who had to get rescued from the Pearl Island water?
Osten.
11. What was Kel accused of smuggling into the Outback?
Beef jerky.
Right, right, right and right. Both tribes are 10 for 11 and we've got a tiebreaker.
They have thirty seconds to name the first person voted off each season--just what Chapera practiced!
We the audience only get twenty seconds to guess (yes, I counted) and the correct answer is:
Sonya, Debb, Diane, Peter, John, Ryan, Nicole.
Chapera, even though they prepared for this, incorrectly said that "Kim" was the first out of the Pearl Islands. Mogo Mogo gets the entire list perfect and wins! I'm very impressed at their knowledge of the game.

Even Robfathers cry.

So how did you do? I only got 9 of 11 because I forgot Frank's name and I couldn't remember what they called those squirmy things the first season. And there's no way I would've been able to remember all seven first-losers. I mean, Diane? Peter? Long gone from memory.
So New Chapera has lost and Amber is in big trouble. Before they leave Rob whispers to Lex, "You take care of her, I'll take care of you." Then Rob has to wipe away a tear! Is anyone else just busting up laughing?
Back at camp, Kathy says she heard Rob talk to Lex and calls it "such a Godfather move." Indeed. Still, she and Shii Ann are considering keeping Amber. Shii knows if Rob loses Amber "the wrath of God will come down upon us."
Amber's not giving up. She promises Kathy she could get her and Lex into the final five with Rob and Tom. Kathy later talks to Lex and Lex believes Rob's word would be good.
So here it comes: Lex tells Jerri she's going to be voted out. Jerri says Rob is lying just to save Amber and asks him to reconsider. He says he will and we leave with Lex, Shii Ann and Kathy undecided.
At Tribal Council, Jeff points out that this was a reunion for Amber and Jerri. Oh yeah! Amber was Jerri's stooge in Season 2. Amber sure is needy.

Ding dong and all that.

The two former Outback comrades vote for each other. A second vote for either of them should signal their departure. Jeff reads: Jerri, Amber…Jerri! Yes! Then…Jerri again! It's about dang time.
In her final words The Hated One says she "found peace in a very stressful situation." What game was she playing? All I remember her doing was whining and freaking out about everything. Get ye gone!
Next time on…Survivor: Amber says she doesn't know if she can keep the promises she's made. Rob makes an alliance with Alicia, saying he now has one with everyone, and someone calls him on it. You know he'd get busted eventually. Rob is no Brian.
So even with a dumb twist we get a happy ending. It's probably too late, but I finally think Lex made a good move. His only hope is having some sort of power over Rob and this is one way to go for it. But if Rob has any sense he'll chop Lex off anyway as soon as he can.
Speaking of which, we have an interesting setup in the game now. There are nine people left which is normally where we draw the line for the jury. The previews and the web site spill the beans that next week they do merge. Are they going to be immediately voting out the first member of the jury or will we have a different number of jury members? Multiple possibilities exist.
All we know is that Jerri is long gone, and that's the way it should be.
