I must be getting old. I can't power through three hours of summentaries like I used to. Let's limp along, shall we?
Here's the recap of the first 14 episodes: Rob and Amber form an alliance, Chapera wins all the time, millionaires get targeted, Jenna and Rupert luck out and get picked by Chapera, Lex ruins his tribe, hot make-out action, lame tribe switch, Rob makes an offer Lex can't refuse, Rob and Amber win cars, Rob defeats an overthrow attempt.
Night 36 and Rob tells Jenna she has no chance against Rupert in the final and suggests she vote him off with them.
The next morning Jeff brings breakfast, a camera and scrapbook. Jenna thinks about the possibility of a tie and the "purple rock" scenario that forced out Paschal.
The first Immunity Challenge is a huge maze race. For the sake of time I'll just say it was really close and Rob did not win. Amber did! Not a bad time to get your first Immunity.
Rupert is sticking with Jenna but she's wavering and tells him she doesn't know what she's going to do yet.
Tribal Council and Tom shaved. Jeff points out that Rob betrayed Tom but Rob says there are two sides to every story.
Jenna admits she's still unsure. Rupert says, "I hope that Jenna and I would stand strong, that we would force the rock issue." Why are they assuming that's the tiebreaker?
Rupe votes for Rob and vice versa, with Rob saying it's been a pleasure playing with Rupert.
Jenna stands there, pen in hand, and says, "I still don't know."

"Jenna bad!"
|
The tally: Rob, Rupert, Rupert…Rupert! Jenna has slain the giant! Worthless.
Rupert leaves and says, "I am a little angry at Jenna. Greed won out over friendship."
The next day is the dumb "fallen comrade" day. Blah, blah, blah, Final Immunity Challenge.
As always, it's endurance. They'll stand barefoot on two posts with one hand on an idol. Feet can't leave the posts, hand can't come off the idol, and the other hand can't touch the idol.
After hour one, Jenna is looking bad but Rob and Amber are relaxed. Two hours in and Jeff says it's 108 degrees. Jenna tries to shift her foot, and it comes off the post! She doesn't believe it, but you NEVER argue with Jeff.
Amber tells Rob she wants the Immunity because he always has it. He pauses, then nods his head and says, "OK."
But then Jeff interrupts and wants to know what's going on. This gives Rob the chance to think some more and he now he wants to finish it!
We're up to three hours. Rob squats down. Amber says she thought about doing that, but doesn't think she can keep her hand in place. Rob says she could reach. Amber says, "I can only reach--" and she touches the idol with her other hand! Rob = King.
Later Jenna says she blew the million because she would've taken Rob to the final and beaten him. Huh? Then she says she thinks Amber will "annihilate him" at Tribal Council and he has a better chance against her. So which is it?

I moved my what?

Rob tells Amber, "100% I'm taking you." She tells us she's still a little nervous.
Council time and Rupert's in his trademark tie-dyed t-shirt. Rob's vote is for Jenna and love conquers all.
Day 39. The last one. Amber says, "I hope I'm not forced into saying why they should pick me over Rob." Uh, what else are they going to want to talk about?
The final jury enters. Tom's in his trademark overalls with no shirt.
Rob makes his opening remarks. He indirectly talks about the Lex situation and says he wants them to view how he played the game overall. He's very vague and unconvincing.
Amber talks about finding a relationship during the game. "I think the reason why I'm sitting here right now is…luck." WHAT? Worst opening statement ever.
Lex gets on his soapbox. "That phrase, 'It's just a game,' is a big lie." Oh good grief. He goes on and on about him being betrayed by Rob. He ends with, "You sold out your friends for a stack of greenbacks." Puh-lease. I mean, who wants to hang out with this guy anyway?
Kathy asks Rob if he's concerned with how people will view him now. He gets emotional and says he was floored by Lex's speech. Don't apologize, man! Kathy asks Amber if she played Rob or if she'll actually have a relationship with him, and she wants a yes or no answer. Amber replies, "Yes, I have a genuine relationship with Rob." Kathy then tells Rob he was like a son to her. Sweet Jehosophat! What did these people expect coming into this thing, campfire songs and s'mores for everyone?
Rupert is much more upbeat. He asks Amber how she got there and why he should give her the money. She says she got here by never losing focus even when alone on the other tribe. Rupert asks Rob why he should give him the million and Rob says, "Because you're a man of your word, that's why you should give me your vote!" Baby-faced grin from Rupert. Well, if babies had big shaggy beards.
Alicia says they mastered the "lowest form" of game playing, "butt kissing and ego stroking. … I can't possibly decide which one of you has got less crap on your lips." Jenna and Rupert laugh. Some people need to lighten up.
Alicia wants one word to describe how they played the game. Rob: "Competitively." Amber: "With luck." That's two words, and bad ones at that.
Shii Ann says, "As someone who has competed with every single person here, I would like to throw out here that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones." She adds that all is fair in love, war and Survivor. Yeah! Standing O! I'm glad someone sees what's really going on.
Shii asks why the other person should win. Rob says Amber has been a true partner, never quit and stuck to their alliance. Amber says, "Number one, I thought he ruled in all the Challenges." She adds he should also win because she could depend on him and he stuck with her ever since fifteen minutes into the game.
Jenna also isn't upset and she asks what they'll do with the money. Rob says he coaches an inline hockey team at Boston University and he'd set up a scholarship fund. Amber says she wants to help those with Muscular Dystrophy. Well, Alicia's comments are correct here.
Tom attacks them about their betrayal. He's really upset, which is a new side of Tom. "Rob," he says, "I got goats on the farm, when they get to [runnin' the nanny (?)] I castrate 'em, and I never seen a boy run a woman like you did. If that was your strategy, you did a good job." There's a major putdown in there somewhere.

"A vote for me is a vote for more gold chains."

He asks Amber why she should get the million over Rob. She says she knew this question was coming (she must be psychic) and says she didn't betray Tom as much as Rob did. Rob gets the same question and he says he turned on Tom because Tom plotted to turn on him first. Tom says he's done, says no hard feelings, and walks up to shake Rob's hand…but then he pulls it away! "Don't be stupid, stupid!" he yells. He says he fell for it once or twice, but not this time.
Oh my.
Amber is first with her final comments and she says she learned a lot about herself in the last few minutes and that she'll take what she learned and apply it to her life. She also says she was honest with all her answers here tonight.
Rob says, "I guess the first thing I want to say is, 'I'm sorry' to each and every one of yous." The "yous" shows he's sincere. He says he's not feeling good right now and the game got more personal than he thought it would be. And he's tearing up! "Excuse me," he continues. "This isn't really the time to be screwing it up either, but, I mean, I guess I've been screwing it up for a long time, haven't I."
No no no no no. If you're going to go the deceitful route in the game, you have to stand behind it at the end. Say you lied, and explain that you did it to outwit them, not because you don't like them. Backing down like this just justifies the resentment the poor losers have.
Time to vote. Jenna says pretty much exactly what I was thinking, that the two of them should've been proud of how they played. Who would've thought Jenna would be the voice of reason. Her vote is for Rob. "You ruled the game physically. This is a large sum of money. I hope you win it." Very, very good for her!
Alicia addresses Rob into the camera and reminds him that she said she'd never write his name down. "I'm a woman of my word," she says as she holds up Amber's name.
Tom also votes for Amber, saying he saw Rob as a brother. He repeats that he never once thought of turning on Rob. "And when you find out the true story, maybe you can call and apologize."
Kathy votes…for Rob! "I am such a sucker," she says. She says they're still friends, their friendship has just been damaged. "I love you," she concludes.
Wow, that was some heavy stuff. I didn't realize how some of these people have let Survivor possess them. I guess the tribe never stops speaking.
Now for the real question: How will Jeff get back to the U.S. with the votes? It's a helicopter this time. He flies over New York, hanging out the side of thechopper, with his hand casually in his pocket. They buzz the Statue of Liberty and pass a large American flag. Jeff is the coolest guy in the world.
They fly over Madison Square Garden and Jeff tells the pilot to land. He crosses the street in traffic and enters the Garden. The crowd greets him like he's Willis Reed.
Amber is wearing an "I (heart) Rob" t-shirt. It's no fun when they're not dressed the same as before. Rob has also shaved. Boo.
Jeff asks Amber if she thinks she has a shot. She says she does and that it'll come down to one vote. To Rob Jeff says, "This was your season. You dominated physically. And, subject to a lot of controversy, you dominated strategically." The crowd cheers. Amen.
Rob replies by saying this:
"Well, you know what, Jeff? Regardless of what happens here tonight with the vote, I feel like I already won. I have the most special girl in the entire world sitting here right next to me. If you don't mind, I'd like to say something to her."
The crowd gasps. Skipping ahead a bit:
"It was really crazy and in the end, I ended up falling in love with you. You're the most amazing person I've ever met in my entire life, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
He pulls out a ring! He gets down on one knee! Did I accidentally switch over to The Bachelor?

Your winner in all her glory.

"I love you with all my haht. Will you marry me?"
She says yes! Bedlam!
Amber's and Rob's parents hug in the audience. Jeff says this isn't the twist. And they still have the vote. "Interesting dynamic that adds to this," he adds.
Let's do this thing. The tally goes: Rob. Amber. Amber. Rob. 2-2. Rob! Amber! And the final vote is for…
AMBER!
So, you think this was a pretty good day for her?
