Survivor 7: Episode 8 Summentary

Can you feel the suspense??

It's Day 22 and Lill is very happy with her decision to turn on Andrew and Morgan. She feels like she finally stood up for herself. Rupert tells her she's now a Drake and will outlast all the Morgans. Get used to promises being made this week.

Ryan knows he's in trouble so he approaches Burton about a Morgan/Outcast merger. Atta boy, Ryno. Never give up.

"Hey, let me stick my
finger in the socket."

Burton catches a stingray and it shocks him on the beach. Others take a turn getting zapped. Why do we do that? "Ouch, that hurt…you try it!"

They eat the ray and more. Tijuana loves all the food at Balboa. "It's so not where I come from," she says.

More whale footage. I'm just waiting for Rupert to go Captain Ahab on one of them.

The first individual Reward Challenge is a sling shot contest where you have to break three plates in order. The winner gets a huge breakfast.

There will be three groups of three with the winner of each group advancing to the final. Sandra, Ryan and Darrah are first to square off. Sandra takes an early 2-0 lead but Ryan hits three in a row to move on.

Next is Burton, Rupert and Jon. Rupert quickly hits his first two and Jon hits the wrong one to eliminate himself. Jeff says, "One more challenge Jon cannot finish." Oh yeah! That may be Mr. Probst's most direct insult ever. By the way, Rupert wins with Burton getting shut out.

Tijuana, Lill and Christa vie for the final spot. T and Lill each hit their first plate. Lill clips number two but it doesn't fall. She kicks in its general direction and it finally falls. Billy Blanks would be proud. Tijuana also hits a second target but Lill seals the deal and will face off against the boys.

Ryan, Lill and Rupert battle for big eats. Lill hits first! And second! Rupert is not pleased. It might not be bad to let her win this. Uh, not with that look in Rupert's eyes. Sure enough he nails three straight to steal the meal. Rupert would be wise to check his competitive ego at the door on some of these.

As always, the winner can bring a guest. Jeff says Rupert also has the option of giving the entire reward away. That's exactly what he does and gives it to Burton as payment for receiving Immunity last time. Burton picks his Outcast buddy Lill to go with him.

Schemers here…

The next day Burton ponders his next move and says he has no loyalty to Drake. He talks to Jon about turning on Rupert. Jon is all for it. "We're crazy if we don't," he says. Jon tells us Burton is his biggest ally.

The reward breakfast is a huge buffet spread on a remote island. Lill wants to toast Drake, but Burton toasts the Outcast instead. They talk strategy and Lill says she trusts Burton. He tells her to try and convince Darrah and Tijuana to join them in voting off Rupert of Christa. Lill agrees but she doesn't want to lie to anyone.

Back at Balboa, Sandra and the other women go out looking for food to prepare in case the men "get hurt," as Tijuana says. She sees the potential break in Drake's alliance.

Burton pledges loyalty to Lill with Scout's honor. He's in big trouble if he turns on her now.

Day 24 and the Morgans lie around while the others work. Tijuana says the Drakes do more than they have to around camp.

The Immunity Challenge is the latest version of the coconut-chopping challenge from S4. Jeff even says they will "find out at this point in the game, where do you stack up in the tribe?" No one's going to fall for it like the Rotu 4 if you make it obvious.

Jeff will ask the group pirate trivia questions and if you answer correctly you get to put a coconut in an opponent's bin. If you receive five coconuts you're out. This is the one Immunity Challenge where you don't control your own destiny.

Tijuana gets to drop the first coconut and he puts it in front of Ryan! What's going on here? Lill, Rupert and Christa do the same. Somebody's an obvious target. Then it's Tijuana again who knocks Ryno out! So much for Morgan unity.

The eliminations then go: Darrah, Tijuana, Burton (by Lill!) before Rupert gets his first coconut. Jon gives Sandra her third coconut and she gives him the finger. Sandra and Jon eliminate each other. So much for Drake unity.

Rupert dispatches of Lill followed by Christa and wins with only two coconuts of his own. The guy can't be stopped.

…there…

Back at camp, Ryan says it's going to take a "minor miracle" to save him now. Rupert says it will in fact be Ryan who is "one of the leaders of the weak." But Rupert admits Burton and Lill could switch sides and his clan would be outnumbered.

Christa talks to Jon about axing Burton but Jon says Ryan can't be trusted. "Why roll the dice?" he asks. Later Burton tells the two of them what Ryan had proposed

Even later Jon says at some point he has to break up Rupert, Christa and Sandra. Everybody's plotting against everyone else.

At Tribal Council, Jeff asks Christa about work ethic and she calls out Darrah and Tijuana for not taking the initiative with chores. Darrah responds by saying they work when it needs to be done. Rupert says everyone has to "do better" around camp.

Time to vote. This could go any number of ways. Rupert targeting Ryan? Burton turning on Christa? The other way around?

Rupert does vote for Ryan but says he wishes Ryan had been in his tribe. "I would trade you for a bunch of my guys," he claims.

Ryan votes for Christa and isn't as nice. "You're just plain and simply a bitch." C'mon, she just makes dumb faces and has a really annoying voice.

Jeff tallies the parchments and reads: Ryan, Christa, Ryan, Ryan, Ryan…Ryan. So much for the suspense. Was it unanimous since we only saw one dissenting vote? Ryno leaves as the first member of the jury.

Sure enough, it was 8-1. Darrah and Tijuana must've struck a deal even before the Immunity Challenge. But with whom is it, and what is there next step?

…and Darr.

Next time on…Survivor: Rupert fishes for shark. I told you he'd go after something big. Also Burton holds a mutiny meeting. "The five us have to stick together," he tells Tijuana, Darrah, Jon and Lill. But then Jeff says, "Lill makes a decision that she regrets," as we see her crying with Jon. Very interesting.

The game is certainly at a crossroads. With eight left you need five for a majority and one could be formed any number of ways. The interesting thing about this season is we don't have any unbreakable bonds like a Pascal/Neleh or Rodger/Elisabeth. The Morgans obviously didn't stick together and there even appear to be cracks between Christa and Rupert.

Burton's strategy is clear, but will Lill go along with it? Rupert has been nothing but kind to her but her co-Outcast wants him gone. And how long before Jon flip-flops again?

Something tells me things aren't going to play out as simply as things appear. But that's why we love the game so.

Watch your back!
