Survivor 7: Episode 7 Summentary

I will never doubt Mark Burnett again.

Night 18 and Rupert goes insaner. "Who the hell voted for me?!" he bellows. Jon confesses and Angrybeard gets in his face. "What the #@$% was that $#%& tonight?!!" Whoa, is he going to hit Jon? Rupert looks completely out of control.

That's a lot of angry hair.

But after more yelling, and some spin from Jon (when in doubt, blame the woman), the two of them appear ready to move on. "I'm sorry, man," Jon says, "I don't know why I believed that, but I did."

Day 19 at Morgan and Osten claims he's lost an entire 25 pounds. Riiiight. Andrew says Osten has "checked out" again. Ryan and Andrew talk trash about Skinny Ryan and Lill. We call that foreshadowing.

Drake goes to get the mail as all are banking on a merge. It does make sense. The message says what they'll be playing for is better than lobster and steak.

Before they go, Jon and Shawn argue about whether or not to grill some "coconut popcorn." Jon calls him every name in the book and Shawn threatens him. Jon knows Shawn can't touch him if he wants to stay in the game so he's taking full advantage of it.

The tribes meet for the Challenge. Why is there a third cage in a different color? Hmm…

Jeff brings out the six previously voted out players complete with purple buffs and a purple flag. We have our third tribe. Ryan S's buff says, "Die, jerks!" Beautiful.

Burton says their tribe name is "The Outcasts." Shake it like Polaroid picture.

Is that Big Boi?

Here's the deal. The three tribes will compete together and if the Outcasts beat one of the regular tribes, the losing tribe votes someone out, and the Outcasts vote someone IN to take their place. If the Outcasts finish first and beat both other tribes, they get to vote in two of their own. Any returning players will also have Immunity in their first Tribal Council. Wow.

Jeff says the Outcasts have been living on a limited diet like the Survivors. But even if that's true, you know they've been getting a lot more rest, plus they haven't been dealing with the constant stress of the game.

The race is to get people out of three cages. One person starts free and runs to get a flag. Then he digs under the first cage and frees a teammate, and does the same thing in the second cage. To get to the third cage they have to build a pole from small sticks and string and use it to get a key to unlock themselves. They then get a final key the same way to get out of the cage. First team with all their members out wins.

All I gotta says is GO OUTCASTS.

Andrew, Burton and Shawn are the runners. Burton gets way ahead. Naw, he's not rested. He almost rips off a nipple pulling himself under the first cage. The other two guys also get into the first section.

Shawn and Christa catch up and are first to get into the second cage. Burton and Trish are next, with good ol' Morgan last.

Rupert is the pole-handler for Drake and he gets the first key. They lead heading into the last cage, with Burton and the Outcasts second. Why does Morgan give the pole to Osten? That's one wussy pole.

Drake and Outcasts are neck and neck. Burton drops the last key, but it's close enough to pull in with their pole. Morgan's pole just disintegrates. The Outcasts get their door open first, and they win!!!

Who has the best pole?

The winners freak out and Skinny Ryan tackles Nicole. Was he trying to cop a feel? One person from each regular tribe will be leaving and two Outcasts will be back in the game.

I am in joyous shock.

Morgan is back at camp and Andrew talks about "the game to end all games." Amen, brother.

Andrew however is not happy about the new twist. He calls the other group "misfits" and wants word from his tribe they'll vote them out as soon as possible.

Tijuana comments that Andrew is quite comfortable being the leader and doesn't want to give up power. File that away for future episodes.

Osten says they should vote him out. "I don't deserve to win," he says. Truer words were never spoken. Tijuana and the others don't try to stop him this time. It's about time they accept his worthlessness.

Drake's not going to have it as easy. Jon says the Outcasts were able to take advantage of the second chance route because "They're used to that. Their entire lives they've been losers." Where on earth did that come from? Jon is about as endearing as ringworm.

Sandra, Christa and Rupert are still tight. Sandra says they should have the other two guys argue for their game lives. They do it and Shawn says he's been more honest and points to Jon voting for Rupert. Jon says he's more loyal and works harder.

Drake is first to Tribal Council and Sandra most fears Burton returning since he was the first one out for them. She also says, "It is Shawn or Jon that is going home tonight."

Jeff has the two of them make a final plea. Shawn says he'd make the tribe more unified and Jon again says he's more loyal.

The vote. Shawn writes down Jon and says, "You've been backstabbing everyone including myself." Jon writes down Shawn and says, "&%@# you." I like his shorter poems better.

The tally should be simple. When someone gets two votes they're done. Rupert would have to make sure Jon is gone right?

Jeff reads Shawn, Jon, then Shawn! Another vote for Shawn and it's official. Rupert was able to cool off and chose strategy over personal revenge. It's a wise choice. Jon can beat no one after the merge.

Ryan tries to steal 2nd base.

Morgan now goes to Tribal Council and this time it's raining. Andrew says Osten wants to be voted out and Osten confirms it. Jeff gets Andrew to say it's Osten's mind giving up, not his body. Jeff agrees and piles on the loser.

Now Jeff has the others say what they'd do in Osten's position. Tijuana says she'd die before leaving on her own. Darrah says wouldn't leave either. Trying speaking out loud without ever closing your mouth. That's what Darrah sounds like.

Jeff gets Osten to finally admit, "Yeah, I'm quitting." The Probst just can't believe it and he's obviously angry. He says this has never happened before and he just asks each person who they'd vote for. They all say Osten so there's no vote. Jeff puts out Osten's torch and says, "Osten, per your wishes, go home." No tribe-has-spoken line. Jeff doesn't even put Osten's torch with the others! Jeff rules the world.

Osten doesn't get final words either. Perfect. I love how seriously they take the game, like it's got some sacred code of honor. It's cheesy and over the top, but it makes the show more fun.

The screen says, "To be continued next week… The Outcast Tribal Council." The preview doesn't give us any hints.

What a dang good half episode. Silly me--I was worried no one would get voted out and instead we get two people out. And two others will be voted in next week! Some of us in Survivor pools at work or home are about to get new life.

This was a GREAT twist. Some may say it wasn't fair for the weary Survivors to do battle with a rested tribe, but they had a chance to prove their superiority on the Challenge field. The game just entered a whole new level and it's even more wide open now.

See you all for part two!
