Time to stab, young one.
Day 21, and we see Ami and Cirie dramatically creeping through the dark jungle. What are they hunting? A dragon? What is that?? It’s…it’s…a crab. Oh yay.
Ozzy is still mad that Tracy called him the leader. Ami tells him not to worry about it. She tells him Tracy tried to get her to turn on Ozzy but she didn’t listen.
Over at Airai, Jason whacks a rat with an oar and says he’s going to eat it. Poverty says he’s trying to impress the Favs but: “I think he’s a loser.”
Poverty talks to Natalie about working together after the merge. She says Ozzy and James will be the biggest targets after the merge so the final four should be her, Natalie, Alexis and Amanda.
Tree Mail announces an Immunity Challenge for the second straight day. The twist is each tribe gets to choose someone from the other tribe to sit out. The twist on the twist is whomever sits out is safe from the next vote if his or her tribe loses. The winning tribe also gets food.
The contest is running back and forth across beams and floating things while people on the side try and knock you over with swinging bags. Airai chooses to have Ozzy sit out and Malakal originally chose James but they crossed his name out and picked Alexis. Ami says they thought Alexis would have better balance. Ozzy and Alexis have to go to Exile Island.
The first tribe to cross the course and bring back five flags wins pizza and beer, and Poverty also sits out. The runners are Eliza and Jason against Erik and Amanda.
Erik tries to jump across the first section. Oh, this is what we saw in the preview! No, he clears it. Well, that increases the drama a bit.
Erik jumps a second time…and makes it again! Eliza is the first person knocked off by a bag, but Jason catches up to Amanda to keep it close.
Erik goes for a third jump…and is successful! Oh the suspense! Airai leads by a nose after four flags.
One last leg. Erik leaps…and NOW he crashes in rib-cracking glory. Amanda has to go and she falls off the first part. Jason is way ahead, dodges the bags and wins Airai’s fourth straight Immunity.
Erik thinks he’s going home. Ami says he doesn’t have any way out.
At the other camp Jason says he was the MVP of the Challenge. He says he isn’t comfortable with his position in the tribe but he’s glad he has the Hidden Immunity Idol. Tee-hee.
The food arrives, and James opens beers with his teeth! Jason tries and fails. James is a man’s man’s man.
Over on Exile, Ozzy leads Alexis to the Idol’s hiding spot to see if the fake one is there. He’s very happy to find it gone.
Erik plays the only card he has: ratting out Ami. He tells Cirie and Amanda that Ami has been talking with the Fans about turning on them since the switch. Ami walks up behind him and asks, “Are you telling them everything since day one?” Cirie says she can trust neither Erik nor Ami. Ami tells the two women that she hasn’t done anything against them and Erik is just talking to save himself.
Ami goes on to say they’ve never made her feel a part of their group and they try to assure her she is. Amanda tells us she can’t trust Ami but at least they know her better than Erik.
Ami thanks Erik for talking about her because now she feels closer to the others. Weird.
Erik waits on the beach for his buddy Ozzy. He tells Ozzy that Ami was after him and he asks for Ozzy to help him as “a fellow competitor.” Ozzy tells the camera he always tries to get the people who target him and he thinks Erik will be loyal.
Ozzy talks to Amanda about voting for Ami but she thinks they can trust Ami more.
At Tribal Council Cirie says, “We just can’t figure out why we keep losing.” I’m sure Yau-Man and Joel could tell you. Erik says he feels “hopeless.” Ozzy launches into a big speech about certain Favorites talking to the Fans and making things “a little bit funky.” Ami cries and says she knows Ozzy is talking about her. Erik tells Jeff what Ami did, as if Jeff has a vote, and Ami says she could’ve gone with the Fans but she didn’t. She says there is “no way” she ever would’ve voted for Ozzy.
Amanda says she wants to believe what Ami’s saying. Ozzy says the same thing. Ami cries some more. Jeff asks Erik why they should believe his story and he says it’s all he has to give at this point. Uh, that’s a reason NOT to believe you. Ami says her heart is in this tribe and she wants to keep all the Favorites together.
Ami and Erik vote for each other, and Erik is apparently a calligrapher.
The tally goes: Ami, Erik…Ami! Ami again and she’s gone!
It’s funny that Ozzy gets so defensive when someone calls him the leader, yet they follow him 100% of the time. He gave into Cirie at the very beginning and voted out Yau-Man, but since then he’s gotten his way every single time. Erik wasn’t convincing in the least, but he got the one guy on his side that mattered. Ozzy may have legal custody of Erik at this point.
So the Fans steal one and now are only down 6-4. Can they stick around to make some noise at the end? The problem is their hopes rest on Erik and his lack of influence (and depth perception), Jason and his massive gullibility, and Alexis and Natalie who have combined for about three spoken words up until now. Not exactly strategic giants.
Next time on…Survivor: We have the merge, Ozzy talks to Alexis about going “beyond Fans vs. Favorites,” Amada tells Cirie that Alexis has to go, Cirie thinks Amanda is jealous of Alexis, and we have this all-world exchange:
Eliza: “It’s not the Idol!”
Jason: “It IS the Idol.”
Eliza: “It’s NOT the Idol.”
Jason: “Why do you say that?”
Eliza: “Because THAT can’t be the Idol.”
Jason: “Why not?”
Eliza: “Cuz it’s just a stick!”
I love this game.
