Survivor 16 Episode 7

Are they in a hurry to finish this season or something?

Day 18 over at Malakal, and Tracy wants to kill some chickens. Ozzy disagrees because he wants to keep getting eggs every day, and Ozzy wins that argument. Tracy tells us Ozzy is going to win the game if they don’t vote him out soon.

At the Airai, James doesn’t like the Fans complaining about the wet and the smell of their sleeping spot. “Just deal with the funk,” he says. Words to live by.

Back at Mal Ozzy teaches Erik how to get coconuts out of a tree. Cirie says Erik would marry Ozzy if Ozzy proposed.

The Reward Challenge is rolling a big “money stone” with a stick through it. Oh, and you’re blindfolded. You get two callers then there’s a puzzle. The winners get an “Herbal Essence” escape. James is surprisingly excited.

Cirie can’t figure out her left from her right but her tribe gets to the puzzle first. They hold on for their first win in a while. Jason gets sent to Exile Island and they have to send one of their own as well, but the catch is that person misses the Reward. Ozzy asks Tracy to do it. Ouch.

The Malakals visit a waterfall, eat, and then Amanda and Ami shower topless with Ozzy. That guy is the King of Survivor.

After a long wet night Kathy notes that it doesn’t rain for just 30 seconds like on TV. She says, “This is the stupidest thing I’ve ever done in my life.” She’s a crying mess so they call Jeff in and she quits on the spot.

Wow. At this moment eight people have left the game and only half of them have been voted out against their will. One guy got hurt, two people asked to be voted out, and one person flat-out quit. Weak.

Speaking of weak, this is another reason why you vote off the non-strong first. Who were the two weakest people when the game started? Chet and Kathy. You carry them along and what does that get you? Two people who wish they would’ve been voted out first.

Jeff also points out that Airai has lost two people without losing Immunity.

The Immunity Challenge involves pulling a rope over a floating bridge then getting cranked back by your tribemates as you ride puzzle pieces. Ozzy does 4 of the 5 running/floating legs for his tribe and they take a lead into the puzzle. But Cirie and Amanda can’t figure it out, and Eliza and Jason pass them for the win! The Idol has set up permanent residence at Airai.

Ami gets devious. Ozzy wants to vote out Tracy but the Favorite girls want to dump Erik. Ami says she’s going to tell the girls she’s with them to secretly vote off Erik against Ozzy’s wishes, only to vote with Tracy and Erik for Ozzy. With a 3-2-1 vote split it would work.

Ami and Tracy tell Cirie and Amanda they’ll vote for Erik. Amanda however isn’t sure she wants to deceive Ozzy.

At Tribal Council Tracy says Ozzy is the leader. Ozzy says he is not the leader. Cirie says Ozzy has a say in 90% of their decisions. Erik says they’d fall apart without Ozzy. Tracy says she’s less of a threat long-term than Ozzy.

Ozzy and Tracy vote for each other and the tally goes: Tracy, Ozzy, Tracy, Tracy, Tracy. Long live the King.

Next time on…Survivor: Ami and Cirie hunt in the jungle, Poverty makes a promise to the Fans, and Erik fails in an attempt to jump a bridge in a Challenge and probably breaks 30 ribs. Do we have 30 ribs?

After losing four people in two episodes, where do we stand? James’ Airai tribe is dominating but they can’t pull away because of physical and mental injuries. Airai has 3 Favorites and 3 Fans. Malakal is still has 4 Favorites but they’re down to just Erik the Fan. So the Favorites have already locked up a majority going into the merge and the Fans seem content to play in their heroes’ shadows.

Tracy was a fighter and she should be proud of how far she went in the game. Her downfall was her 3-person alliance consisted of two quitters, but even with that handicap she was able to personally orchestrate the ouster of both Mikey and Joel. Not bad. Not wise for her tribe’s long-term success, but not bad.

At least she didn’t quit.
