Survivor 14 Episode 13

I bet you didn’t see that one coming.

Day 34, and Earl tells Cassandra, Stacy and Yau-Man it should be Boo next.

The Reward Challenge note leads them to believe it’s for a car. Dreamz doesn’t have a car and begs people to give him one if they can.

Sure enough, they are playing for a huge Ford truck. This thing would eat about six Pontiac Azteks.

They are divided into two teams and must go through an obstacle course while roped together at the waist. The winning team of three then competes against each other for the truck. It’s Yau, Stacy and Boo against The Players Of African-American Descent.

We finally find something Yau-Man can’t do as he fails repeatedly on the balance beam. But his team makes up ground on the net crawl structure, and they out-dig TPOAAD in the sand pit! Boo is absolutely on fire.

The final is throwing small axes to try and break two ropes. In round one, Boo is the only one to connect. Yau cuts alone in round two. Round three…and Yau hits to win a truck 100,000 times bigger than him!

But wait. Yau announces he wants to make a deal. He offers the truck to Dreamz and says if they both make the final four, and Dreamz wins Immunity, Dreamz has to give him Immunity. Dreamz immediately takes the deal and the truck!

Now what does that do to the car curse? Are curses transferable?

But wait, there’s more. Yau-Man sends himself to Exile Island! This guy’s game is in hyperdrive right now. Yau’s clue describes a mountain, a beach and “pining.”

Dreamz says he’s going to keep his word to Yau but he realizes if he gets Yau out before the final four he doesn’t have to. Dreamz goes to Cassandra and says none of his plans have worked so far, but he wants her to help him vote out Yau-Man instead of Boo.

The Immunity Challenge is throwing a ball attached to a rope to pull down a balance beam. Dreamz, Boo, Earl and Yau-Man advance in the first round, with Cassandra making like Wile E. Coyote and throwing her entire rope in the water.

The second round puts Yau-Man and Boo in the final, and Boo wins again! Boo yeah!!

Uh oh, Yau…

Yau-Man tells Earl about the pine clue. Earl hunts (why the others keep letting him and Yau go off is beyond me) and sure enough he finds the turtle! Yau now says he’s guaranteed the final three.

Dreamz works on Stacy. Cassandra tells us she’s not sure she should turn on Earl’s alliance.

Stacy talks to Earl and acts like she knows she’s going and Earl buys it. Dreamz tells Yau-Man it’s Stacy. But Earl whispers to Yau-Man, “I have bad vibes.”

At Tribal Council Yau-Man says the risk in his deal with Dreamz is surviving the next two votes. Stacy says the vote will reveal division.

Yau-Man votes for Stacy, and Dreamz votes for Yau-Man. Jeff asks if anyone wants to play an Idol and…and…and…Yau-Man stands up! He whips out a turtle and hands it to Mr. Probst!!

Jeff says the way it works is any votes for Yau-Man do not count. The tally goes: Stacy, Yau-Man! Stacy, Yau-Man again! He’s got a huge grin on his face. Jeff says Stacy has two votes with only two votes left so if the next vote is for either Stacy or Yau-Man she is gone. It’s Yau-Man again! Stacy departs and the little giant continues to stand tall.

Next time on the Survivor Fiji finale: Dreamz says, “My fate was sealed when I took the truck.”

That…was…awesome. This is why they changed the rule about the exact time when you can play the Idol. If everyone knows Yau has an Idol and Yau can sit back and wait until the votes are read, no one’s going to bother to vote for him and the Idol never gets played. But now the other players knew he might not play it and they took a chance. It was the right move to try and break up Earl and Yau-Man, they just got outplayed.

Actually, since they knew Yau had an Idol the correct play would’ve been to surprise Earl with a vote, but I don’t think Cassandra (or maybe Dreamz) was willing to go that far.

But she did in fact break her alliance with Earl. It’ll be very interesting to see how that changes things. The two most powerful guys in the game suddenly find themselves alone. We know their second Idol will be played since it expires after the next vote. It’s just a matter of who gets to use it.

Was that drastic enough for you?
