Survivor 13: Episode 4

Prepare to be outwitted big time.

But first, Blondi has a complaint about the tribe swap: "Last season, they divided the tribes by age, and that lasted only two weeks also. If you're going to do something huge, stick with it and see how it plays out. All that publicity, then it fizzled." Yep, for the second season in a row the "controversial" tribe division just ended up being a publicity stunt. Will race be a factor at all this season? Let's find out.

Night 8, and Ozzy is mad that they voted out the person who helped him build the camp they're living in. He says if they're going to get rid of him he hopes they do it soon so he doesn't have to catch food for them.

Candice's tribemates ask her if Adam and Parvati sent her to Exile Island to save her from the vote. Candice plays dumb but tells us she thinks it's true.

Over at Raro (which sounds like "railroad" when Jeff says it, so I'm going to call them RR) the men are getting lazy and the women are getting annoyed. The men go off and wonder if the women are annoyed with them and J.P. says it doesn't matter because the women will need their "manpower".

Day 10 brings the first purely Reward Challenge and it's the one where a couple people are connected to a rope and dragged over, under and through an obstacle course. Aitu (henceforth identified as I2) builds a big lead as Ozzy swims like a fish. They struggle with the puzzle for a bit then pull it out. Adam is sent to Exile Island (but he will return for the next Challenge).

Ozzy is an absolute fishing machine for his tribe. He has cheered up and is now "happy being the sole provider." Yul calls him Poseidon.

At RR, J.P. leans back by the fire and gives orders. He really isn't too bright.

That night Poverty tries to cash in on Nate. She asks if they have an all-male alliance and he admits it! But he tells her she doesn't have to worry, and he tells us she is his "ace right now." They both talk about letting J.P. think he's in charge for the time being.

The next day Cowboy and Jonathan see a booby nest in a tree. Cowboy wants to find some eggs so he pushes the nest with a stick and knocks out a newborn chick. They put it back in the nest and apologize to the bird. Cowboy says he feels really bad. What a booby.

The Immunity Challenge is putting together a stretcher puzzle, carrying a tribemate, swimming and building a fire. Jeff makes us laugh by running in front of everyone to do his play-by-play.

Ozzy rules the sea again. He practically runs on top of the water before swimming and he absolutely smokes J.P.

His I2 teammate Cowboy is the first to get fire. He grabs the lit kindling and waves it around like he's conducting a really large orchestra. Jeff says, "Cowboy's either going to be a hero or very silly."

Jenny can't get anything but a bloody thumb for her tribe, and I2 wins again!

Back at RR camp, Stephannie tells everyone it's her fault they didn't get the fire started and she's the weakest link. Nate tells us she's one of his "Supremes" but if she wants to leave he'll let her.

Rebecca and Jenny however can count to five and talk about an all-woman alliance. They want to vote off J.P. and Cristina agrees.

Jenny talks to Poverty who doesn't think it's a good idea. Uh oh. The ladies now try to get Brad to turn against J.P. Telling all these people is risky business.

At Tribal Council Jenny says J.P. is telling people what to do. Stephannie says she shouldn't be voted out just for failing to make fire in the Challenge and J.P. agrees. He points out that he was beat badly in the swimming portion, yet he has "no reason" to go home.

Stephannie and Cristina vote for J.P., and J.P. and Nate vote for Stephannie.

The tally goes: Stephannie, J.P., Stephannie, J.P., J.P., J.P…J.P., and he's gone! He is stunned and says, "You guys outwitted me big time." It turns out everyone but Nate was in on it. Wow.

Next time on…Survivor: Cowboy gets mad at the I2 women for not working, and RR gets some "unexpected company."

As far as the race issue, it's interesting to note that someone from every ethnicity has turned on his or her own already. Tonight we had Nate vote for Stephannie, and Cristina vote for J.P. Last week we saw Cowboy lobbying to dump Becky, and Jessflikca choosing Cowboy over Jonathan. That's actually pretty cool, since it shows people are making judgments on each other based on individual personalities instead of race. And isn't that how it should be anyway?

Somebody get Jeff Probst a Nobel Prize.
