When it comes to Survivor, I don't want to miss a thing.
Night 14, and Casaya is in bed. Shane starts telling Danielle they messed up in voting off Bobby because "Bruce is falling apart." Never mind that A) Bruce is about 6 feet away, and B) it was originally Shane's idea to vote off Bobby.
Shane goes on to tell Danielle he wants out of their alliance because he doesn't trust them to make smart decisions. Who's falling apart here again?
The next day Cirie makes sure Courtney knows about everything that happened the night before. Courtney says they should just get rid of Shane, and Danielle agrees. Cirie is beside herself with excitement.
Over at La Mina, Dan and Nick are out on the raft and Dan confesses that he was an astronaut. He later tells Austin too and the young guys are impressed. "He's a pimp," Austin says.
Shane asks Courtney and Danielle again to let him out of their alliance and his swear on his son's life. "Done," Courtney immediately replies.
Aras tells us he doesn't trust or like Shane, but he knows they need the numbers. Aras tells Shane he understands why he's upset with the girls but the way he handled them was a mistake, and Shane agrees he screwed up and is now in trouble.
The Challenge is Reward and Immunity combined. The Survivors have to race down separate paths that crisscross and intersect a couple times in order to retrieve four huge puzzle pieces. The remaining two tribemates then have to assemble a "spinning puzzle." The winners get a day trip to a Panamanian village for a barbeque, and they get to send someone to Exile Island. But here's the kicker: That exiled person is immune from the next Tribal Council. Very nice!
Terry, Austin and Nick give La Mina a nice lead heading into the puzzle, but Dan and Sally can't figure it out. Bruce and Cirie come all the way back and get a piece in first. Dan tries to look at the other team's puzzle but it doesn't help. Casaya cruises to another victory!
The purple team huddles and they choose to send Sally to Exile Island. You knew that was coming. One of the La Mina men will be going home tonight!
Casaya enjoys a huge feast and fun with the villagers including soccer with some kids. Cirie says it was great to be around someone other than "these people" because she really misses her family.
All of Shane's dreams come true as he sees someone smoking. He bums a cigarette and heads to nicotine heaven, except his body is so messed up that it makes him ill. Just say no, kids.
While Cirie is happy they won she also realizes this was a great chance for Shane to mend his fences instead of getting voted out. Cirie is playing a nice game. She's very observant about what's going on, she's working hard and she's keeping herself out of harm's way. The Fishmonger title I put her earlier doesn't do her justice.
The day ends with Bruce putting on a karate demonstration. I'm sure Panama will never be the same.
The El Mino boys try to figure out their next move. Austin works on Terry to turn on Dan because of his age and relative weakness. Dan and Nick on the other hand talk about how it's going to be a tie vote. But Terry later tells the young guys he'll vote with them! Terry goes to Dan to break the bad news. Dan is disappointed Terry is breaking their two-man alliance but he accepts responsibility for losing the Challenge, and he understands he's going home.
They start playing music like when Bruce Willis locked himself out of the spaceship in Armageddon to sacrifice himself so Ben Affleck could marry Liv Tyler. Someone pass me a tissue.
At Tribal Council Austin says Sally was saved by Exile Island. Nick says the vote isn't going to be a surprise but Jeff says he can't tell who's going. "It's me," Dan says, because he didn't do his job. Terry explains he's making a "managerial decision" for the good of the tribe. Dan says he'd prefer a tie vote and doing some sort of Challenge to break it.
The tally goes: Dan, Austin, Dan, Dan. "Dan Fuego" is snuffed out.
Next time on…Survivor. It's a return of the good old filler episode! Next WEDNESDAY will be a recap with "never before seen footage" and the like. The week after that appears to be nothing (due to the college basketball tournament) then in three weeks (March 30) we finally get a new episode.
Will it be the merge? There are only 10 Survivors left. If so, Casaya appears to have the upper hand, but you know there's lots more fighting to be done. This could be the most wide-open post-merge yet, and if the four La Minas can stick together they might actually have the advantage.
May all your March Madness picks come true, especially if you pick Arizona.
