We see some lines being drawn within one tribe. But first, a first look at the first mailbag from the new email list…first.
Dave in Mesa asks the question that's been on everyone's fingers:
"Hopefully you have heard that Rob and Amber are going to be on Amazing Race 7. This should be most entertaining. Do you think you will have the time to cover AR7 as well as Survivor?"
It's true. Boston Rob and soon-to-be Mrs. Boston Rob will be on the new season of the Amazing Race which begins THIS TUESDAY, March 1, on CBS. While I don't like the idea of established reality TV "stars" competing against "regular people" it is intriguing and I will be watching. I did say before if the rumor was true I'd cover it here, and I'm a man of my typed word, so Dang Fun's first coverage of a full season of Amazing Race begins this week. Can you stand it?
Dave also asks, "How's the little one?" Thank you to all of you who sent your well wishes concerning Katarina's birth. She's doing very well, I'm having a great time, and I enjoy sharing bits of it with you. I'll try and squeeze in an update or two before she gets big enough to run an Immunity Challenge.
Speaking of which, Survivor 10 Episode 2 begins on Night 3 with Koror mourning the loss of their fire. They are visited by rats and Janu freaks out. You'd think working in Vegas she'd be used to dealing with diseased rodents.

Ashlee is well-balanced.

Caryn is looking for someone to blame for choosing the empty beach over the one that already had a shelter. That was a pretty dumb move in hindsight. Katie is annoyed with Caryn's constant talking.
Day 4 in Ulong and James says they are a complete democracy with no leader. This means they don't do anything.
The Reward Challenge is an obstacle course that begins with swinging on a rope across a shallow pit. You then have to cross a series of unstable planks and barrels resting on water while members of the other team try and knock you over with swinging bags of sand. It's like a human miniature golf hole.
The first tribe to gather ten flags and bring them back wins. If you get knocked into the water you have to go to the end of the line, but the trick is everyone has to successfully swing across on the rope at least once. We call this Boston Rob rule.
The Reward is a fishing spear, mask and fins. Ulong would also get flint if they win. Willard sits out for Koror.
James hits the course first for Ulong, makes it all the way to the end and back, but when he tries to jump to the finish he slams into the edge and falls into the water. Not bright.
Bobby Jon unveils quite a temper. He yells at the bag-swingers then punches at the water after falling off the barrel roll.
Of all people, Angie is the first to complete the course with a flag. Well done! Katie can't get across on the rope and holds up Koror. She finally crosses the pit but is too worn out to finish. By the time she quits and jumps into the water at her tribe's urging, it's already 4-0 Ulong. Angie scores again and this one is over.

Bobby Jon is not a happy guy.

Highlights of garbage time include Ian getting destroyed by a sand bag, Coby taking a moment before stepping onto the course to get "centered" then immediately slipping and falling in, and Bobby Jon hitting himself in the head multiple times to celebrate bringing back a flag. Psycho.
10-3 is your final. Ulong has their first victory and Angie is feeling much better about her position in the tribe. Later Jeff and Bobby Jon catch the world's smallest fish and a big clam.
Koror actually finds their flint box! Didn't expect that. Now the trick is pulling it up. Ian says it's about 25 feet down and the current is really strong. After many attempts he's finally able to hook a rope through the handle and they pull it to shore. Ian is Aquaman!
Ulong sits down for a seafood dinner but Ashlee doesn't want any, saying she's not hungry. She goes and lies down by herself. Probably not a good idea. Later Jeff and Kim lie down with each other. Boom-chicka-wow-wow.
The next day Treemail instructs the Survivors to learn Morse code. Learning? Ulong is in trouble.
The Immunity Challenge is two parts. First the players have dive down to pull a rope attached to a submerged "foot locker" which is fifty feet away. Once they retrieve it, they open it and eight mess kits float to the surface. Each one is marked with a Morse code letter which they bring back to shore and assemble to form a word. Katie sits out for Koror.
Willard is a slow swimmer and holds up his tribe. But Tom is a stud with the rope, getting great leverage with his feet, and Koror passes into the lead. Jeff points out that Kim is the only one not taking a turn diving for Ulong.
Koror gets way ahead, collects the mess kits and completes the word "Immunity" before Ulong even gets halfway done with their rope. Ouch.

Coby can't go straight.

Now the game begins. With no loudmouthed leader, members of Ulong jockey for position. Stephenie, James and Angie want Kim out because she gave up in the Challenge. James goes the Jeff about it, even though he's cuddling with her at night. Why? Jeff naturally wants someone else out and says it should be Ashlee because she's slowing down.
Stephenie talks to Bobby Jon who is undecided. She thinks there might be a 4-4 tie. So what does she do? Tell Kim they're thinking about voting her off! I will never ever understand that.
Kim confronts James who promises he's not voting for her and gives her a big hillbilly wink. That means she can rest easy. Either that or she just bought a sow.
At Tribal Council Kim talks about not wanting anyone to leave because they've gotten so close. She even whips up some tears. She's got her pageant game face on.
Jeff gets Jeff to admit to getting close to Kim. Mr. P asks if that will hurt them. Kim says it never occurred to her that the others might think of them as having an alliance. She's got her pageant brain in too.
Ibrehem votes for Kim, saying he's loyal to Ashlee for picking him for the tribe. Jeff votes for Ashlee.
The tally goes: Kim, Ashlee, Jeff (?), then Ashlee, Ashlee, Ashlee is gone with the wind.

Gone before their time.
|
Ashlee says her only regret is not using the cold as an excuse to cuddle with Ibrehem.
Next time on…Survivor: Koror spearfishes for something big, Jeff hurts his leg, and Caryn fights with Katie.
Time for some math. Ibrehem voted for Kim. Stephenie, James and Angie also wanted to vote for Kim. Get Ashlee to vote with them and they could've done what they wanted without the tie! That means they either changed their minds and agreed Ashlee should go first, or they're just not good at counting.
You can count on another good episode next week, and some Amazing Race fun in between.
Your multitasker,
Scott
