Amazing Race 8: Episode 3

Blastoff!

The families finally enter an airport and the Angry Mom's comments make it seem like the contestants weren't aware this is a U.S.-only Race. Interesting. I know I'd be upset if I thought I was going to get a free trip to some exotic lands and instead I ended up on an 8-hour bus ride.

Good heavens, that must've been painful. Especially that second bus with the Weaver family going insane. I guess the producers were really on a budget this season. I hope they saved enough money to get the Weaver girls some help.

Somebody call the
Huntsville Looney Bin.

So the Schroeder boy is becoming friends with the super-blond Weaver boy. It'll be interesting to see if that comes into play at all. Hunter was also caught on camera calling his stepmom a B witch. Oops.

Who would've thought squishing the heads off of sea creatures would be the preferable answer to any question? But that mud bog was a killer. Fourteen tries for the sons-in-law! And of course my ol' pals the Gaghans nail it on their first try. Curse you, mud!

The space-training Roadblock wasn't very hard, but only one team could go at a time so it created quite the bottleneck. The Aiellos were last in line and sure enough, that's how they finished the Race. That's one slow old man down.

But the other slow old man is at the front of the pack! A great turnaround this week by Daddy Bransen. And how's that for a prize? Free gasoline for LIFE?! That's like a billion dollars these days. Although they probably have all these restrictions like you can only fill up once a month, or you can only get gas on Tuesdays during a full moon. Still, I'd take it.

Bogged down, and out.

I don't see any favorites to win yet, but there sure are teams on the wide road to self-destruction. Obviously the Weavers are in bad shape. Then we see that next episode they have to go to a racetrack, which just happens to be how their dad died (he worked at a track and was hit by a car). That's not good.

Then you have the Yellin' Paolos. Egads. If there's any money left over after the Weavers' therapy, it should definitely be put to use here. I don't see them lasting two more legs.

Finally, next week the Godlewski sisters make one of their own cry. I hope she doesn't stain her pink shirt.

Happy bogging!
